THOR has entered into MoU with leading german auto supplier ZF that will give them exclusive rights to ZF’s e-Trailer system. This will allow THOR to build RVs which would maintain and extend the range of their electric vehicles.
The technology relies on adding batteries between the trailer’s frame rails and replacing the dummy axle with an electric drive axle. This will result in the trailer using these batteries to power itself thereby reducing the burden on the ev. It communicates with the ev through the same 4pin connector that RVs use today to engage ABS and brake lights.
ZF has tested this technology in the past and they have had positive results.
